A traditional event in Egomachi that has continued for about 500 years, lanterns lit in the streets invite you into a fantasy world.
This festival, held annually on August 23 and 24, is a traditional event that has continued for about 500 years. Another highlight of the festival is the "Mizukake Jizo Festival," in which children pour water on a wooden Jizo carved on a portable shrine, and then carry the shrine through the town. The children are then paraded through the town carrying the portable shrine. The townspeople then pour water on the children with ladles and pails to pray for their good health. In the evening, nearly 10,000 lanterns are lit in the town, instantly transforming it into a world of light, which is truly fantastic.
